You’re far more likely to notice a dripping faucet in your bathroom or kitchen because you walk by and see or hear the drip several times/day. What about your outdoor faucets?
If you’re like me and you do a lot of yard work or have a garden, chances are that you have an interconnecting mesh of water hoses and faucets. Chances are also true that these are leaking either at the faucet or the hoses themselves. Once/week (or more, if you’re so inclined), do a full check of your outdoor faucets as well. Turn them on, check the hoses for leaks and replace. Then turn them off and watch them for several minutes to be sure that you have no hoses at the facet or pipe.
We’ve put together a water conservation poster to remind us of this problem.
